Montpelier author David Carkeet’s five previous novels have been critically acclaimed and have gained him a cult following. Now, with From Away he has created a masterpiece, a brilliant comic novel set to rival A Confederacy of Dunces. For many years, David taught linguistics and writing at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He also directed the MFA program there and edited its literary journal, Natural Bridge. He lives in Middlesex, Vermont.
