Linda Urban
The first time we met Linda she was an “untethered bookstore employee”. She came into Bear Pond volunteering her time, having recently relocated from Pasadena, California, and leaving her marketing job at Vroman’s Bookstore. The second time she came in she announced that her first novel Crooked Kind of Perfect was going to be published by Harcourt. Since then she’s also published a picture book called Mouse Was Mad, illustrated by Henry Cole. Both books made it onto our 2009 Top 10 Bestsellers List. <P>
We always know when Linda is coming up to visit the children’s room. Her young son Jack’s voice always reaches us before they make it to the top of the stairs. We think he’ll be writing books, or at least his first dissertation by age 8.
