April 17: Three Vermont Poets

Inviting local poets to read is getting to be an annual event! And hearing a poet read from his/her work is always a pleasure.
This year we have:
Neil Shepard is the author of four collections of poetry—Scavenging the Country for a Heartbeat, I'm Here Because I Lost My Way, This Far from the Source his newest collection, (T)ravel/Un(T)ravel. His poems have appeared in numerous publications, including Boulevard, Harvard Review, and Paris Review. Shepard is Senior Editor of Green Mountains Review
and a founding member of the poetry-jazz ensemble PoJazz. He teaches in
the low-residency MFA Writing Program at Wilkes University and lives in
Vermont and New York City.
Karin Gottshall is a poet, fiction writer, and creative
writing instructor. Her book, Crocus, was published by Fordham University Press in 2007 and a chapbook, Flood Letters, came out in 2011 from Argos Books. A second chapbook, Almanac for the Sleepless,
is forthcoming from Dancing Girl Press.She is currently a poetry
writing instructor at Middlebury College and a prose reader for New England Review. She lives in Middlebury, Vermont.
Susan Thomas
Susan Thomas has two poetry collections, State of Blessed Gluttony, (Red Hen Press, 2004, Benjamin Saltman Prize) and The Empty Notebook Interrogates Itself, (Fomite Press, 2011).
She is also co-translator, with Deborah Brown and Richard Jackson, of Last Voyage, a collection of Giovanni Pascoli’s selected poems, (Red Hen Press, 2010). She has won the Iowa Poetry Prize, the Ann Stanford Prize, The Editor’s Prize from Spoon River Review and the MR Prize from the Mississippi Review. She lives in New York City and Marshfield, VT.
