February's Meeting!, or, My Pal Moriarty, or, There's No Place Like Holmes

Greetings Holmesians All, We shall convene this
coming Monday, February 27, at Bear Pond Books, starting at 6:30p. Among
the books we'll have read [one hopes] will be The Valley of Fear
by [of course] Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - possibly the only 'Sir' we've ever read
- and Moriarty: The Hound of the D'Urbervilles by Kim Newman - for
whom, if I'm any judge, there won't be a knighthood anytime soon but who is
nonetheless quite entertaining. Both books are still available at Bear Pond if
you feel the need for last minute catching-up.

We'll also need to pick books for the next couple of months. How do we feel
about France [1800's & present] or North Korea? There's a publisher in
Waitsfield who's doing some reprints of French mysteries that sound really
interesting. Maybe we could pair one with a Cara Black?

In other, more random, news, The Orphan Master's Son, by Adam
Johnson, is terrific. It's not a mystery [so far, anyway] but is set in North
Korea.
