Galway Kinnell is one of the most influential American poets of the 20th century. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he studied at Princeton University, and has traveled extensively in Europe, and the Middle East. Much of Kinnell’s work deals with social issues and contains spiritual dimensions as well as imagery from nature. He is now retired and living in Vermont.  He drew a large, appreciative audience the last time he read at Bear Pond.
