George

George grew up on a Vermont dairy farm but eventually discovered that the only cow he knew who could read was Mrs. Wiggins from the Freddy the Pig books. So he left to look for more Freddy the Pigs. He currently runs the Mystery Book Group [which could really use a name - Suggestions? Anyone? Please?] at Bear Pond and works at the Kellogg Hubbard Library and will read just about anything. He still misses cows and, turns out, he’s also not particularly fond of writing about himself in the third person…

Sometimes, a good blurb can actually get you to read a book. Who knew? The one that worked for me was mentioned in a review and was to the effect of '...what would happen if Harry Potter grew up and joined the Fuzz". [Although, as I recall, he kind of did, but I digress.] So, I ordered Riot, bought it, and am happily zipping through it, so much so that I've just ordered the second book for me & the store. It's a mystery/fantasy, set in England, about a P.C. [that's 'Probationary Constable', for those of you who don't read Brit mysteries] named Peter Grant who discovers he can see and talk with ghosts. This, as it turns out, comes in rather handy. Grant's good company; at first he seems rather gormless but soon shows himself to have good sense & a good sense of humor. The book's great fun; somehow, we must do these for Mystery Club.
