Welcome
Welcome to the Children’s Room! Glad you found us here.
January is always an exciting month for children's book lovers as the American Library Association announces it's award winners. This year's John Newbery medal for the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children goes to Jack Gantos for his novel for middle graders Dead End In Norvelt. The Randolph Caldecott medal given to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children goes to Chris Raschka for A Ball For Daisy.
My favorite part of these awards is listening to the recipients' speeches upon receiving the honors. They are usually funny, insightful and provide another window into the lovely world of creativity and books.
