In 2014, Newfane-based Vermont author Archer Mayor published the 25th in his Joe Gunther mystery series: Proof Positive. This book takes Gunther from Vermont to Philadelphia and back again as he investigates the mysterious death of a photographer and Vietnam Veteran shortly before the world "discovers" his work through a UVM exhibition.
Mayor is known for police procedurals that fit seamlessly into the landscape of Vermont. His investigators move across the state, with portrayals of Vermont sites from the Pownal race track to downtown Burlington.
Like many Vermonters, Archer Mayor has more than one job. In addition to being a New York Times bestselling writer, he is a death investigator for Vermont’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and a police detective. He also has 25 years experience as a volunteer firefighter/EMT. A Yale graduate, scholar, editor, researcher, photographer, his resume reveals work as a political advance man, a medical illustrator, and recently, a winner of the Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts.
Archer Mayor is also publisher of his own backlist - which, yes, we carry in the Mystery section of the store.
