I've always enjoyed Richard Russo's novels; now I can love his essays. The Destiny Thief, Russo's collection of pieces about his chosen profession, is the artist at his best. This book has plenty of generous advice for the aspiring writer, but to me, the most interesting part was learning how he finally arrived at the conversational, funny, and incredibly effective style he is known for. If you're interested in the writing life - buy this book.
